IT professionals, whether they’ll admit it or not, often find themselves having the hardest time explaining things. For some it’s a lack of social skills; for others the lack of desire; and then there are some who are simply so deep into IT their vocabulary starts to morph. I myself tend to forget just how wide the divide is until I come across a well-written article about a subject I’m really concerned about. Such is the case with Joshua Davis’ article in Wired Magazine titled “Hackers Take Down the Most Wired Country in Europe”.It’s a rather lengthy piece written in a way that’s both informative and exciting to read. However, more important is the sense of awareness readers can’t help having once they’re finished with it. For those of you who have listened to your IT staff say things that made you think they were paranoid Mr. Davis’ article in Wired will help you understand why. I can think of a few friends who I’ve warned on certain issues IT, who just looked at me as if I was Fox Mulder (think X-Files, folks). Hopefully, they’ll take a look at this and understand the point I was trying to get across.Laterz.
