Publishing On Sundays

I have to tell you, trying to publish on a Sunday morning isn’t always rewarding. I have a photo that I’m trying to put up, but IT tech in me gets the feeling WordPress does a bit of preventive maintenance and backing up to their servers on Sundays.

So it goes… I’ll consider it a nice, little exercise in patience. ;)

More Apple & What’s Steve Jobs Up to?

According to today’s Wall Street Journal “Apple’s Strong Mac Sales Juice Up Earnings 36%” (subscription required). That’s pretty impressive folks. Even those of you out there who tend to stiff-arm all things Mac have to be wondering what’s going on by now. Further in the article it’s written, “Apple’s revenue grew 43% for its fiscal second quarter ended March 29.” 43% is pretty nice as well. Pretty nice indeed. But that’s not the part of the article that really caught my eye.

It seems that Apple acquired P.A. Semi Inc. which is unusual because Apple doesn’t normally acquire companies. Not without a darn good reason, anyway. (See iPod History and Design by clicking here.) If Apple’s acquiring P.A. Semi Inc. then odds are there are very good reasons why.

But then at the end of the article Steve Jobs, of course, makes it all clear:

Mr. Jobs said the acquisition of P.A. had “everything to do with their talent and, in some cases, their technology” and that Apple intends to use the company’s expertise in its portable electronics products. “To get the silicon we need to be able to run the sophisticated software we want to run on iPhones and iPods, you can’t just go out and buy the chips off the shelf to do that,” he said.

It will be interesting to see what tricks Señor Jobs has up his sleeve for us. ;)

Spring!!! :)

My day started off rather normally. I took the bus, to the train, to the final bus. It’s not as long as you think. The total trip from door-to-door is less than an hour. Like most folks in cities, I run into the usual suspects on the train. This morning it was the gentleman who’s belly was so big it looked as if his water would break any minute. But he seemed like a nice enough fellow in any case.

More importantly, the sun was out in full force! You have to understand, I think Stockholm is beautiful in any weather. However, when the sun is out it’s just G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S! So gorgeous that I got off the bus ahead of my stop and decided to use my Nokia N95 for a few quick shots.

Here we have the Kungliga Dramatiska Teatern:

Next we have the cherry blossoms of Kungsträdgården:

And finally the fountain at Sergelstorg:

And, sadly, all things come to an end, so I had to head home.

I plan on riding my bike tomorrow. :)

Sunny Stockholm

Few understand how I, a native New Yorker, born and raised in now “en vogue” Harlem can love Stockholm as much as I do. Well, that’s because you don’t know much about Stockholm or the Swedes (not to mention Harlem wasn’t much to write home about in the ’70s and ’80s when I was growing up there). My plan is to use this blog to help you see Sweden outside of the terrible “Swedish Chef” template the world has been innocently subjected to via The Muppets.

Wish me luck!

Babies, Norway, and Spring

Okay. Let’s be honest. I’ve been gone for some time now. The last thing I’ve posted was an Utterz file. AND, to make matters worse, I have yet to put up another one.

Nevertheless, the reason for my absence is totally valid. I’ve been enjoying the HECK out of hanging with my wife and baby. As some of you know, just sitting in the living room with your wife and baby can be F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!!! Such is my wonderful life, thank God.

In any case, I came across this very interesting article regarding how Norway reallydecided to go to the OOXML standard. It’s worth a peak.

Spring is finally upon us here in Stockholm! That means I should be taking a few pics to slap up and show the world the most beautiful city in all of Scandinavia. (To my Norwegian buddy, yep, I dared to write that.) Spring time means I’ve started writing my bike again. The lungs have a way of reminding one they should exercise regularly. It’s almost cruel Nevertheless, I’m up for the challenge.

If my entries aren’t their usual, please forgive me. I plan on slapping them up a bit more regularly, but odds are they won’t be their usual. But I figure it’s better to put something up! Especially since Web 3.0 is upon us. You’ll see what I mean soon enough. ;)
