Mobile Phone Service In U.S. Compared to Rest of the World
“FINALLY!” That’s what I thought while reading this article in yesterday’s USA Today’s tech section. It’s a sort of confirmation of the suspicions I had regarding mobile phone users in Europe and Asia being more savvy. It’s probably one of the better pros/cons comparison articles I’ve read. It’s definitely worth a peak.
Huh?!?
How do you know when your government doesn’t have a clue about today’s technology? When they enact laws like this. Now ask yourself, “How will they differentiate between legit IT professional working remotely from home, and a ‘hacker’ doing bad things?” Beats me. And let’s not even get into what they’re defining as “hacker tools”.
NewsMap
I don’t know how many of you know about NewsMap, but I’ve been a fan for years, so I’ve decided to add it to my links on the right. Here’s the explanation of the concept:Newsmap is an application that visually reflects the constantly changing landscape of the Google News news aggregator. A treemap visualization algorithm helps display the enormous amount of information gathered by the aggregator. Treemaps are traditionally space-constrained visualizations of information. Newsmap’s objective takes that goal a step further and provides a tool to divide information into quickly recognizable bands which, when presented together, reveal underlying patterns in news reporting across cultures and within news segments in constant change around the globe. If you’re a news junkie, you’re really gonna get a kick out it. But even if you’re not, it’s definitely worth a peek.

Can Nokia Sell Mobile Phones?
Nokia’s motto is “Connecting people”. Well, based on the results of their second quarter, they’ve been connecting more than a few. More than a million. More than 10 million. In fact, more than 100 million according to Wall Street Journal, (subscription required)! That’s a lot of sales.Read more about it all right here where no subscription is required courtesy of the good folks at Forbes.
